Founded in 1988, King Long has grown to become one of the largest specialist bus and coach builders in the world. Based in Xiamen, China, King Long operates a network of manufacturing plants, of which the main plant is the largest bus manufacturing plant in the world. King Long has the technology and capacity to produce almost any type of vehicle whilst handling large volumes at world class quality levels. In fact, in 2010 King Long manufactured more than 23,000 vehicles.
King Long began exporting to the world markets in 2000. In March 2005 they began exports to Europe, successfully passing the British Commercial Vehicle Certification. A decade later, King Long have a range of models all built to world class safety and quality standards, currently still remain the only Chinese bus builder to export to over 80 countries across 5 continents including the UK, Italy and France. King Long has established more than 70 distributors and service providers in international markets. In 2011, King Long is on target to achieve exports of RMB 1.8 billion, and create another record in the Chinese bus export history.
King Long sees the Australian market as having among the highest safety and quality standards in the global bus and coach industry with unique operating conditions and regulatory requirements. King Long is committed to providing the right vehicles for the Australian market and as such, all models exported to Australia are designed by Australian Engineers with assistance from King Long’s extensive engineering resources. All vehicles are tested; with each model undergoing rollover testing, meeting ADR regulations and selective FEA (Finite Element Analysis) testing to validate the design lifecycle of 20 years.
Since the launch of the first King Long bus in Australia in 2008, we have seen increasing numbers of King Long buses entering the market, creating a growing awareness of quality buses at excellent value.
The King Long Australian bus range includes our Midi bus (35 seats & 45 seats), School/Charter bus (12.5m 57 seats built on OEM chassis), and low floor city bus (12m LF & 18m LF Articulate built on OEM chassis).
